Day 1 Departure from your hotels after breakfast at 08.25 hrs. The drive takes us to the Makasutu Cultural Forest. Makasutu is a Palm forest situated on the banks of a beautiful meandering tributary of The River Gambia, encompassing many different eco-systems including dense forest, savanna and mangrove regions. The area is a home for a variety of birds, monkeys, monitor lizards, pygmy deer, and man goose; with a bit of luck you might just catch a glimpse of baboons. A canoe trip and guided nature walks are organized. There is also a chance to observe traditional bush people going on their daily business, palm wine tapers, local fishermen and the women collecting oysters from the mangrove. Lunch is provided after the walk and the canoe trip whilst traditional drumming and dancing is enjoyed under the Baobab tree. This is a real African Experience. From Makasutu the drive continues to the Sindola Safari Lodge, which is situated in Kanilai, in the district of Foni situated in the western division of The Gambia. The Lodge is situated in a beautiful environment with a lot of sport facilities. Lunch will be served when back at the camp. After lunch, we will drive to Kartong where the Sandele Lodge will accommodate us.
